I attended a meeting for teachers that will be working with students to prepare them for the upcoming NJASK exams. As I listened to all of the information about the tests and the expectations of the students, I wondered, “Who benefits from these exams?” We stress students out, we stress out teachers, schools get judged on the results, and all for what?
What do you think?
I think that standards ar important, consistency is important and expectations are important but the testing has gotten out of hand.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could judge students more on their work throughout the year instead of a test taken on a specific day?
