Letting them go

SOLC: Day 2

I pick up my group of 1st graders every day and follow the same route to my room.

Down 5 steps,

down the hall,

down 5 more steps,

around the corner,

down the hall,

around another corner,

arrive at my room.

Today I gave them the challenge of going back their rooms without my help.

As I watched them walk in a line and make their way around the first corner, I wondered if they would be okay without me.

Will they diddle daddle on the way?

Will they go make too much noise?

Should I go check on them?

What if the fire alarms go off?

I didn’t realize that letting them go in this simple task would cause such discomfort for me.

Maybe I should go check on them!?
