The Familiar Box
The package arrived at the door around 9.
The dogs recognize the familiar color, logo, and design.
They know it’s for them.
The treats have arrived.
They run, bark, and howl.
They come and sit by my side.
While I open the box they begin to jump up on me.
As I open the treats, the sound makes them sit quietly.
Patiently they wait until I give them each one.
Then quietly they lay by the back door enjoying the sun.
Dog are intelligent! They clearly knew exactly what to expect. Delightful poem.
Chewy?
I wondered if dogs would recognize the boxes their fun stuff arrives in. We have cats, so we don’t have a delivery like that. But they can tell the sound of their once-daily wet food can on the counter, no matter how quietly I put it down.
YUP! Mine too. They are so smart how they just KNOW it’s for them.
